Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has taken over the mantle of leadership of Mumbai Indians from veteran batsman Rohit Sharma. This meant Rohit Sharma’s era as a skipper in the league came to an end after 10 long years.

Meanwhile, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan reacted over the development.

As per Irfan, no matter how old the franchise will become, Rohit’s name will always be on the top.

“Kitne bhi saal ki purani ye franchise kyon na ho jaae sabse upar naam Rohit Sharma ka rahega,” wrote Irfan on his social media account X (earlier known as Twitter).

Irfan’s tweet has reportedly gone viral within no time. It has so far garnered around 17k likes.

Several fans have showered the comment box with interesting comments.

Fans furious

Meanwhile, fans on X don’t seem to have taken the news well as they feel it was a bit unfair to Rohit Sharma, who won five trophies with the Mumbai Indians.

“It was all decided. Man sold TV to buy remote,” a fan wrote.

“5 IPL trophies, Mumbai Indians will never find a captain like Rohit Sharma ever again. It’s a horrible decision and a big loss for the franchise,” tweeted another fan.

Responding to the decision, a third user commented, “My life is going downhill, you’ll always be my Captain. The legacy of Rohit Sharma the Captain of Mumbai Indians, you redefined MI. He deserved a better ending.”
