Gujarat Titans (GT) batter Shubman Gill’s childhood coach Karsan Ghavri has made an explosive remark while comparing his protégé with Delhi Capitals aggressive opener Prithvi Shaw.

“Both Gill and Shaw were in the same team that won the U-19 World Cup in 2018. Today where is Prithvi Shaw and where is Shubman Gill? They are in two different categories. Shaw thinks he is a star and nobody can touch him. But he needs to understand that at the international level, irrespective of whether you are playing T20, 50 over or the Test match or even the Ranji Trophy, it takes only one delivery to get you out,” said Ghavri during an interview.

“You require discipline and a good temperament. You need to constantly work on yourself. You are required to occupy the crease. If you do that, you are bound to get more runs,” he added,

However, Ghavri has also words of motivation for Shaw. As per the former India pacer, Shaw needs to work on his weakness.

“Both Shaw and Gill are of same age. Nothing has been lost yet for Shaw. While Gill has worked on his flaws, Shaw hasn’t done that yet. He needs to work hard, otherwise, there is no point having so much of potential,” Ghavri said.

Notably, Gill has impressed fans and experts by his superlative show in IPL 2023. He is currently the Orange Cap holder. However, Shaw had a forgettable season as he scored only 106 runs in eight matches for DC.
