Chennai Super Kings (CSK) speedster Deepak Chahar shares a very good bonding with skipper MS Dhoni. The Captain Cool has utilised the swing bowler well and they have tasted a fair amount of success together in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

There are also instances when Chahar erred in his bowling and got a bit of stick from his captain. Recently, Chahar recalled one such moment during a television programme.

Once, Dhoni asked Chahar to bowl at the death during an IPL match due to an injury to death over specialist Dwayne Bravo. However, Chahar bowled two full tosses above the waist-height.

The veteran wicket-keeper was not happy about his line and length and he took a dig at the pacer in his own unique style.

Dhoni came to Chahar and said, “Vaise to tu bada dedh shaana banta hai. Sab pata hai tujhe. Yaha pe ye kya geeli ball ke saath phek raha hai? (You claim to know everything then why are you bowling like this with the wet ball).”

Then Chahar thought that his death bowling career is over since he bowled two beamers. However, Dhoni’s thrashing gave him a good motivation. He tried his best and conceded just five runs in the next five balls. Then Dhoni came and hugged the pacer after the game.

“We are very close and he pampers me a lot,” said Chahar.

Notably, Chahar has already won two IPL titles with CSK. The pacer is on the verge of winning the third title if the yellow brigade manages to beat the defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2023 final on Sunday.
