Senior Congress leader Tara Bahinipati on Tuesday slammed the Odisha police while accusing the administration of shielding several leaders.

In an explosive comment, Tara known for his off the cuff remarks, claimed that Archana Nag's sex scandal has penetrated so deeply into the ruling party and also eaten into the BJP camp that there are hardly a few leaders who have not benefited from the syndicate that was operated by the lady blackmailer.

A lot of money has been used by politicians on Archana, the reason why police is trying to make the case null and void, he added.

Bahinipati did not mince words while ridiculing the leaders whose photos with Archana are going viral on social media. “There is a lot of buzz about politicians availing whatever services Archana Nag was providing. Both the BJP and BJD have money to spend on her, so they spent,” Bahinipati alleged.

“Congress in Odisha is out of power for 25 years. So, our leaders do not have so much money that the other parties boast of. That is why nobody from Congress could be seen involved in this case,” he claimed.

Meanwhile, the Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court in Bhubaneswar on Monday turned down the bail application of Archana Nag.

Notably, the court had on Friday reserved the order on her bail plea after hearing arguments from the counsels appearing for the accused as well as the prosecution.

During the hearing, Archana’s lawyer had argued that all the allegations and cases registered against his client are baseless and prayed the court to release her on bail. He had also sought the case diary in the case.

On the other hand, the prosecution side argued that Archana was booked under Sections including 370, 328 and IT Act 66(E) and 67. So, it would be risky to release her on bail as she could influence the investigation process.
