Ruling BJD has drawn flak from various sources as a number of State government employees across Odisha are allegedly campaigning for the party for the forthcoming Panchayat elections. The videos of many such campaignings have gone viral over various social media platforms.

As many as two government school teachers at Asanpur Panchayat in Jajpur district set aside the rules of the State Election Commission (SEC) recently to take part in the campaigning.

The teachers flouting the SEC norms have been identified as Sujit Kumar Das from Garedeswar ME School under Dasrathpur and Ashok Das from Madhupur School.

Both the teachers were found campaigning for BJD candidates and joining a party meeting led by Binjharpur MLA Pramila Mallik earlier this week.

In another such incident, one Veterinary MVU Attendant from Balibila Panchayat under Bari block was also found campaigning for BJD candidates for the upcoming three-tier Panchayat elections. The State government employee has been identified as Sujit Samal.

The videos of all these incidents have gone viral over various social media platforms and the ruling party has been rapped from various quarters for allowing the government employee take part in the election campaignings.

“We have clear direction from SEC in this regard. Whenever we are getting any complaints against any government employees taking part in election campaigning, we are ordering inquiries and taking strong actions against the erring officials,” said Jajpur Collector Chakravarti Singh Rathore.
