With the police investigation into model Soumya Ranjan’s death case is yet to make any headway, family members have warned of gheraoing the police station.

“We are yet to see justice delivered. If the police do not arrest the accused, I will end my life in front of the police station,” said the deceased’s mother. “Are the police under pressure for not taking action against the accused?” lobbed a question at the police by the deceased’s sister.

Significantly, what seems testing the patience of the victim's family is already eleven days have passed since the death, but police are yet to make any breakthrough even though the suicide note of the deceased had clearly blamed his girlfriend.

Moreover, several audio clips containing a conversation between Soumya, his girlfriend and her mother have emerged wherein Soumya had alleged being betrayed by his girlfriend and indicated about taking the extreme step.

The deceased model's family members ask, "Why despite pieces of evidence galore with regard to the involvement of the girl, police are not summoning her?”

The timidity of Commisionerate police raises eyebrows when prima facie evidences like suicide note, viral audio clips, WhatsApp chat details, call details and circumstantial evidences against the girl.

As per senior advocate, Manas Das, it seems the police are under pressure. “If one had been abetted to end his life, then a case under section 306 under IPC can be registered against the girl. The police can interrogate the girl as well as her mother. But the investigation is tardy hinting at working of some pressure,” Das opined.

However, the father of the girl in question had denied the involvement of his daughter. “My daughter is the one who would never stoop so low to commit such crime,” he claimed.
