“It is a dream come true for me. I had never fixed my schedule on how many hours to study. Rather I focused on what to study within a specified period,” said Baisakhee Lenka, who secured rank four in the Odisha Civil Services Examination (OCS) 2021, the results of which were announced on Monday.

Lenka further said that she had not told anyone about her preparations, but her parents were supportive throughout.

“I had not informed anyone that I was preparing for Civil Services. My parents helped me a lot. After the exam, my father asked me to prepare for UPSC. He always asked me to dream big,” said Lenka.

Lenka cracked the Odisha Civil Services Examination on her second attempt. “It was my second attempt. In the first attempt, I could qualify after the interview round. This hurt me a lot. I had focused on all subjects and I was hopeful to get a rank but never had thought to get rank four,” said Lenka.

According to Lenka, she used to prepare along with her Post Graduation (PG) in Natural Resource Management. “I was into depression after I did not get PG admission in the college which I dreamt of. It took three months to come strong. It was my friend who also helped me to study,” said Lenka.

Key To Sucess

Hard work and self-motivation are key to success. Make friends, who will motivate you and my friends helped me in group studies, said Lenka.

Next Move

According to Lenka, she was hopeful of getting a rank in the Civil Services. She wants to stay in Odisha and work for women and tribals.

“Since my childhood, I wanted to become a Collector even though I did not know what the role was all about. I want to serve people here in Odisha. I want to work for women and the tribal community,” Lenka added.
