Tension flared up on the premises of GK Bhattar Community Health Centre (CHC) at Jaleswar in Balasore on Friday after a patient died allegedly due to medical negligence. The relatives of the deceased patient reportedly manhandled Dr Dillip Patra.

Soon after the incident, police rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the agitated kin of the patient.

As per reports, Umesh Ojha, a resident of Chakahari village, consumed poison following a family feud. He was rushed to GK Bhattar  CHC where he succumbed.

Thereafter, tension prevailed on the hospital premises and angry family members allegedly beat the doctor. On being informed, police rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the crowd and escorted the doctor out of the crowd.

Meanwhile, police started an investigation into the matter.

The bereaved family members alleged that Dr Dillip Patra delayed the treatment of the patient, resulting in his death. One of the relatives of the deceased, said, ”When we brought our patient, doctors didn't attend to him immediately. The doctor on duty should be shifted elsewhere."

However, no comments were received from the doctor and police.
