After ECI order, Sujata Karthikeyan shifted from Mission Shakti

A day after the Election Commission of India (ECI) directed the Odisha government to transfer Sujata Karthikeyan from the post of commissioner- cum-secretary of the Department of Mission Shakti, she was transferred as the Special Secretary of the Finance Department.

The additional appointment of Sujata as Commissioner-cum-Secretary to the Government, the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department was also terminated. 

A notification to this effect was issued by the General Administration and Public Grievances department on Friday.  

As per the notification, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department has been given additional charge of Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Department of Mission Shakti and Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department. 

A point worth mentioning is that Odisha BJP repeatedly raised allegations against Sujata that she had been influencing SHG women to vote for the BJD by misusing her power and government machinery.

She was accused of motivating voters to favour the BJD through Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), a programme of the ECI.
