Ahead of the crucial 2024 elections, senior BJP leader Jual Oram on Wednesday expressed his desire to contest for the last time from the Sundargarh Lok Sabha constituency.

Oram’s reaction came in response to a media query over reports that he might be fielded as an MLA candidate by the party. Such speculation is now abuzz as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had adopted the strategy of fielding Parliamentarians in Assembly seats in several states that went to polls in 2023.

“I do not know what discussion is being held. The media doesn’t decide, rather the Central leadership will take a call. But I have already informed the party high command that I will contest as MP for the last time from Sundargarh Lok Sabha seat,” said Oram.

According to Oram, he will not contest any polls after the upcoming election. “If the Party leadership tells me to contest for an Assembly seat, I will think about it. But as of now, I will contest from Sundargarh Lok Sabha seat,” Oram added.
