BJP National Vice-President Baijayant Panda on Monday lauded the decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to depute four senior Ministers to coordinate the entire evacuation operation of Indian students who are now stranded in the middle of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The Union Ministers -Hardeep Puri, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kiren Rijiju and VK Singh will travel to the countries surrounding Ukraine as special envoys of India to help the evacuation process of stranded Indians, said Panda.

Terming the entire evacuation operation as ‘historic’, Panda said India probably is the first country in the world which is taking all proactive steps in ensuring full evacuation of its citizens who are now trapped in the war-torn country.

According to Panda, already five special flights carrying stranded Indian Nationals have reached the country from Ukraine. It is all possible due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has been at the front to extend all possible assistance to the citizens in crisis.

Major efforts to rescue citizens were also taken up by the Indian government in Afghanistan and also during the Covid-19 pandemic, the BJP National Vice President said.

“In difficult times, India has been able to take up such evacuation measures which no other country has been able to do so far. Our four ministers will fly to the countries near Ukraine to coordinate with the ongoing evacuation process. However, some people are trying to politicise the matter,” said Panda.

Highlighting that carrying out such evacuation during war situations is a difficult task, Panda said all possible measures are being taken to rescue the stranded Indian nationals, including students from Odisha.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken to the Russian as well as Ukranian Presidents. The government is taking all that is required to complete the evacuation of all the stranded Indian nationals,” Panda added.
