A man allegedly strangled his grandmother to death over delay in serving meal, while another youth jumped into a well to save his drowning mother in two separate contrasting tales in Odisha. The first incident was reported from Baliguda in Kandhamal district, while the other was reported from Nuapada.

According to sources, a youth identified as Manoj Pradhan allegedly choked his grandmother to death using a towel at Kambaguda village under Mandakia panchayat in Kandhmal district on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Sarojini Pradhan.

Sources said an altercation between Manoj and Sarojini ensued after the latter delayed in serving him food. In a fit of rage, Manoj reportedly strangled her to death.

After getting information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body before sending it for post-mortem.

In another incident sharply in contrast to the other story, a youth risked his life and jumped into a well to save his mother at Bangalapada in Nuapada district.

According to sources, one woman identified as Sashiprabha Panigrahi (66) fell into a well on Saturday. Making no delay, his son jumped into the 20-foot deep well and rescued her from drowning.
