The incident took place yesterday when the leopard strayed into a sugar cane field and attacked the labourers working there, circle officer Arvind Kumar Panday said.
Local police and wildlife officials, who were alerted about the incident, rushed to the spot to trap the animal but a police sub-inspector and a constable were injured in the process, said Panday.
The animal was later shot dead by the villagers in the presence of wild life officials, said the officer.
