Foods that trigger arthritis

Wheat and gluten-rich grains

Processed wheat products like bread, pasta, bagels, and crackers can prove troublesome for patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Since wheat contains gluten- a type of protein that aggravates and irritates joint pain it must be avoided. Other grains and millets that contain gluten are rye and barley and hence you must keep away from them too.

Instead, those with arthritis should include more brown rice, quinoa, and polenta in their diet since they are free from gluten and high in fiber.

Margarine and Butter

Margarine and processed butter are filled with glycation finish that is also called AGEs. These substances since highly processed lead to stiffness and inflammation of joints. Cooking with excessive warmth also leads to AGEs. Foods that are additionally fried, grilled, or roasted are also not good for joint pain.

Burgers

Burgers especially high-fat meals such as hamburgers can lead to an increase in the number of unhealthful bacteria in the gut. These are also loaded with AGEs and hence can damage the cartilage, the lubrication, and the cushions at the joints. An alternative to it is a salmon burger that is surely stuffed but with ingredients rich in omega-3 fat and thus lowers stiffness and aches caused due to arthritis.
