News Highlights

  • Sunil Grover as Navjot Sidhu on Kapil Sharma Show was highly impressive.
  • Sunil performed Sidhu’s character in front of the opening batsman.
  • Kapil Sharma too performed as Sidhu later on, however, by then the cricketer was replaced by Archana Puran Singh.

Navjot Singh Sidhu was one of the prominent faces of comedy shows on Indian television a few years ago. His special Shayari and way of appreciating the guests made him a big favourite of everyone. That is why when he started appearing on The Kapil Sharma Show as a regular guest, viewers started looking forward to his comments.

While the former opening batsman was dropped from the show after the eruption of political controversy, the audience still remembers his friendly banter with Kapil Sharma, the other comedians on the show, and the guests.

There was a time when Sidhu paji appeared as a guest on The Kapil Sharma Show and Sunil Grover, who was very much working with the team, portrayed Sidhu Paji and even sat on the chair where the cricketer normally sat with girls around him.

Sidhu had appeared with his wife on the show and the way Sunil teased and performed the character of the famous cricketing commentator, was just outstanding. The way Ali Asgar as Dadi cuddled Sunil, who was portraying Sidhu, and later on, directly tried to woo the cricketer in the presence of his wife, was all so hilarious.

After Sidhu was dropped from the show and Sunil left The Kapil Sharma Show, Kapil also once performed as Navjot Singh Sidhu and triggered laughter. The audience loved Kappu as Sidhu as he taunted Archana Puran Singh who replaced Sidhu with fiery dialogues.

While Kapil Sharma undoubtedly was very good as Sidhu, the scenario was quite different when Sunil played the character of the cricketer as he was directly performing in presence of Sidhu. The response from both Sidhu and his wife, and the overall act was much funnier. While Krushna Abhishek and Bharti Singh are doing a good job on The Kapil Sharma Show, the magic of Sunil and Kapil sharing the stage was something that is still being missed.
