Indian Idol is one of the most-watched music reality shows in India. Currently, viewers are enjoying the 12th season of the show and within a few weeks, the winner of Indian Idol 12 will be declared. It makes people wonder about the 11 earlier winners who have taken home the trophy of this national music reality show so far.
Abhijeet Sawant continues to be the name in the limelight as he was the first Indian Idol winner. Apart from singing in a few Bollywood movies and launching a hit musical album, Abhijeet has also hosted a season of Indian Idol and participated in a few reality shows.
Sandeep Acharya, who won the second season, mostly worked in Rajasthani music. Unfortunately, he succumbed to jaundice at a very young age. Indian Idol 3 winner Prashant Tamang did sing some Hindi songs after winning the title but afterward shifted to doing Nepali numbers and since then there has been no looking back for him. Currently, he is based in Kathmandu.

Sourabhee Debbarma was the first female winner of the show who won Indian Idol 4. She toured all over the world and even launched her album Meherbaan. Sourabhee even got her name in the Guinness Book of World Record by singing upside-down for 4.30 minutes.
Sreerama Chandra Mynampati was the winner of Indian Idol 5 and was quite a rage in South India as he was the first Southern contestant to win the show.
He sang for some hit Bollywood songs including Subhanallah and currently sings mostly in Telugu cinema. Sreerama can sing in 7 languages. Vipul Mehta, who won hearts with his melodious singing and won Indian Idol 6, could not do wonders as a playback singer but is currently busy touring the world doing live concerts and programs.
Indian Idol 7 was for the junior singers and was won by Anjana Padmanabhan. She became the first junior Indian Idol. It was followed by yet another season of juniors. The Indian Idol 8 Junior was won by Ananya Sritam Nanda. The singer from Bhubaneswar, Odisha sang for the Bollywood movie MS Dhoni: The Untold Story and over the years has sung for many Ollywood flicks.
Winner of the Indian Idol 9-KL Revanth is undoubtedly the most successful of all the contestants who won this title. He sang in Rajamouli’s blockbuster movie Baabhubali: The Beginning and to date has sung more than 200 songs in Southern movies. Salman Ali won the Indian Idol 10 and became quite a sensation with his Sufi style of singing.
Apart from singing a few Bollywood numbers, Salman has also been a part of several music reality shows in the past few years. Sunny Hindustani was the winner of Indian Idol 11 and since then he has started his own YouTube channel through which he entertains music lovers.
Now, all the eyes are on the winner of Indian Idol 12, as to who will take the trophy home this year. While Pawandeep Rajan is the hot favorite to win the title this year, the voting of the fans can play a crucial role in tilting the decision in the favor of other contestants like Arunita Kanjilal, Danish Mohammed, Nihal, Sayli Gaikwad, and Shanmukha Priya.
