Rebel star Prabhas’ futuristic, dystopian sci-fi actioner that released on Thursday had a blockbuster opening across India with around Rs 180 crore collection on its first day. With this domestic box office collection, the Nag Ashwin directorial has surpassed the opening day collection of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan.

The Atlee-directorial had collected Rs 65.5 crore on its opening day while the Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone-starrer has made a total of Rs 64.50 crore from its Telugu shows alone. Its Hindi shows collected Rs 24 crore with Rs 2.2 crore coming from Malayalam shows and Rs 0.3 crore from its Kannada shows, taking the total to Rs 95 crore, according to trade portal Sacnilk.

Talking about the worldwide collection, Kalki has surpassed the global opening records of KGF 2 (Rs 159 crore), Salaar (Rs 158 crore), Leo (Rs 142.75 crore), Sahoo (Rs 130 crore) and Jawan (Rs 129 crore). The film is expected to earn better on Friday and the upcoming weekends. Made on a budget of Rs 600 crore, Kalki is one of the highest budget-made movies in India after Adipurush.
