Kalki 2898 AD: Mrunal Thakur had a genuine reason for saying yes

Mrunal Thakur’s cameo in Kalki 2898 AD surprised many. Although there were rumours that Mrunal, Vijay Deverakonda, and others were making a cameo in the science fiction thriller, no one had taken it seriously. The Family Star actress recently shared the reason why she immediately accepted the role in the movie despite it being a very small one.

Mrunal Thakur said, “When I was approached for ‘Kalki,’ I didn’t even take a moment to say yes. I have immense faith in producers Aswani Dutt, Swapna Dutt, and Priyanka. Our successful collaboration in ‘Sita Ramam’ made this an easy decision. And being part of this mammoth of a project and this absolute visionary filmmaking was something I knew I had to be part of.”

Apart from Mrunal, the cameo by Vijay Deverakonda who plays Arjuna in Kalki 2898 AD was also loved by his fans. The Kushi actor is an important part of a sequence that depicts a major Mahabharata fight in Kurukshetra.

Work-wise, Mrunal Thakur got the success in Southern movies that she could not achieve in Bollywood despite working in some good movies like Super 30 and Jersey with big superstars like Hrithik Roshan and Shahid Kapoor respectively. However, her first South Indian movie Sita Raman with Dulquer Salman became a big hit. Its Hindi-dubbed version also got a good response from Bollywood fans.

Her second movie Hi Nanna with superstar Nani was also well received and her acting was much appreciated. However, her last film Family Star with Vijay Deverakonda turned out a dud which suddenly put breaks on her journey towards stardom. But she still has a lot of opportunities and projects in her kitty.

Currently, Mrunal has a movie opposite Varun Dhawan helmed by David Dhawan. It will be a typical comedy film for which the director is known. She is also a part of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's project which is a romantic film with Siddhant Chaturvedi as the male lead.
