Genelia D’Souza has often been called a Bubbly Girl because of her ever-smiling and vivacious demeanour. Today, the gorgeous actress and mother of two celebrates her 36th birthday.

She has acted in both Bollywood and regional movies and was a crush of millions before she finally decided to settle down with her boyfriend of more than 8 years-Riteish Deshmukh. She has done all types of roles in her long career from a docile, household girl to a sexy, glamourous beauty.

Apart from that, she has also done a lot of work in commercial advertisements and endorsements and continues to do so even today. But there was one television ad that did not go down well with the general public and critics and had to be pulled down as it had some adult content.

Virat Kohli and Genelia's ad was banned

The Fastrack ad with the tagline “Move On” was shot with Genelia D’Souza and Virat Kohli as air hostesses and pilots respectively. It was the time when the Indian batsman had just become a big cricketing star and Genelia was already winning hearts.

The ad had some suggestive intonations indicating romance and more during the flight. And many who opposed this ad felt that these sorts of actions can jeopardize the security of the passengers on the flight and hence such advertisements should not be allowed to air.

It had a bit of humorous touch but ultimately, the advertisement was banned. Apart from that, there have been multiple times when the Ved actress has found herself embroiled in controversies.

When Cheenu was spotted in Columbia

At that time Genelia was dating Riteish Deshmukh. The latter had a show in Columbia in Sri Lanka and Genelia was spotted in the audience cheering up for her boyfriend. That was the time when Genelia was actively working in South Indian movies and hence Tamil and Kollywood industry called out to ban her movies.

Marriage controversy

In 2011, Genelia worked with John Abraham in Force. There was a scene where both John and Genelia had to get married and to make the scene authentic, all the rituals were conducted according to the norms that are held in Hindu traditions.

Even the priest who performed those rituals was real. So when she decided to get married to Riteish later on there was quite an uproar with even the priest stepping up and reportedly saying that since she was married to John, Genelia cannot marry Riteish.
