Gadar 2 overshadows RARKPK 300 cr celebration; may impact success of SRK's Jawan

Gadar 2 has surprised or rather shocked everyone with the tremendous response it is getting across the country. Released on August 11, the movie continues to mint moolah at the box office and does not seem to be in any way losing its momentum.

Within a week the Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel-led sequel has crossed collection of Rs 300 crore.

Incidentally, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani also completed 300 crores of collection worldwide this week and it was certainly a moment of pride and reason to celebrate for the Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh, and Alia Bhatt team.

However, it seems people have simply forgotten about this Dharma flick ever since Gadar 2 hit the theaters. RARKPK hit the theaters on July 28 and had a solo run at the box office for almost 15 days.

In a way, it did not have much competition. But things changed when Gadar 2 came into the theaters. This Anil Sharma-helmed movie already had created hype with huge advance bookings and opened to a massive collection of Rs 40 crore on the first day itself.

Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 also was released on the same day and suffered a bit due to the thunderous response to Sunny Deol’s sequel.

Even then OMG 2 managed to survive and slowly with mouth-to-mouth publicity is expected to easily cross Rs 100 crore mark. The way Gadar 2 is currently running at the theaters, it is most likely that it will continue to run in packed houses even when Jawan led by Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara and helmed by Atlee released on September 7, 2023.

Both SRK and his production house are trying their best to enhance the hype around Jawan with effective marketing and promotional tactics. The songs released until now have got a lukewarm response, especially the Zinda Banda. Even then SRK has an insane fan following and his fans are once again very much eager to see their favourite superstar in action.

However, with trade analysts predicting that Gadar 2 will slowly inch towards 500 crore, it seems the sequel might just put a dent in the success calculations of Jawan.
