In a shocking incident, a man allegedly hacked his uncle (father’s younger brother) and his sister-in-law (cousin brother’s wife) to death at Paladhuapalli village under Khallikote Police limits of Ganjam district on Friday. 

The accused has been identified as Daktar Dakua and the deceased as his uncle Siba Dakua and his sister-in-law Jayanti Dakua. The alleged double murder took place over a property dispute.

According to sources, when the two families were clearing the nearby cashew orchard, a dispute erupted over the share in the same. The verbal duel between them turned ugly when Daktar lost his cool. He picked up a billhook and attacked Siba and Jayanti, leading to their death. 

After committing the crime, Daktar was trying to flee from the spot when the villagers overpowered him and immediately informed the Khallikote Police Station. On being informed, a team from the police station reached the spot, recovered the bodies, and sent them to Khallikote hospital for post-mortem. The cops rescued Daktar from the villagers and took him to the police station for interrogation.
