Man ‘poisons’ 5-year-old daughter, ends life in Nayagarh; forensic team begins probe

In a shocking incident, two persons including a 5-year-old girl have been found dead under mysterious circumstances in Nayagarh. The deceased have been identified as Pulak Biswal (36) and his daughter Palak (5).

Police recovered their bodies from their house located at Debadatara lane after breaking the lock. Sources said that the house was locked from inside. It is suspected that Pulak first poisoned his daughter and later ended his life by hanging himself.

It is pertinent to mention here it was only three months back that Pulak had married for the second time after the death of his first wife.

“I had come to drop my sister off when I found that the house was locked. The mobile phone of my brother-in-law was also switched off. Later, I called police and informed them about the matter,” said Dipak Swain, a relative.

A neighbour said, “The couple was living happily after their marriage. The man’s wife had gone to her parents' home some four to five days back. We suspect something might have happened between them. Yesterday, his wife had come home.”

The exact reason behind the incident is still unclear whether Pulak resorted to such extreme over some family feud or any other reason.

As such questions still remain unanswered, police and forensic team on Thursday intensified their investigation into the matter which has sent shockwaves in the locality.
