Two more persons have been arrested in connection with the seizure of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) by the Special Task Force (STF) in Dhenkanal district.

The total number of arrests made so far including two by EOW and STF has now reached three. The accused have been identified as Tushar Kumar Biswal, Biswanath Acharya and Trinath Das of Deogarh district.

It is pertinent to mention here that the STF with the help of Dhenkanal District Police had detected a case of illegal business of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) on December 16 at Rathapada village in Dhenkanal district.

Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) with a face value of Rs 1,90,600 was seized from the possession of Tushar Biswal who was arrested on the same day.

Subsequently, two more accused- Biswanath Acharya and Trinath Das were arrested based on the information shared by Tushar. Both Tushar and Biswanth are said to be the mastermind of the fake note racket.

Meanwhile, Trinath, who was arrested in connection with a dacoity case, was recently released on bail.

A case has been registered at Dhenkanal Sadar Police Station and necessary legal action is being taken in connection with the incident.

On September 11, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch arrested an inter-state criminal and recovered Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) worth Rs 16 lakh from his possession in Rourkela.

The accused, Sk Ahmed was nabbed by the STF team with assistance from Rourkela district police. The accused hails from Delhi and was staying at sector 15 in Rourkela.

It is pertinent to mention here that the STF has registered 4 cases this year in connection with the Fake Indian Currency Notes and seized over 47,43,000 fake notes.
