The rising water level of Ganga River has submerged several low-lying area of Varanasi, including some famous ghats. As per reports, the area from the Assi Ghat to the Namo Ghat is completely submerged. Water level had crossed danger mark on Saturday which led to inundation of many agricultural and residential areas near the banks of the river.
The Odisha government on Monday announced that the banks will remain closed on September 1, 2022, on the occasion of Nuakhai.
