With this thought in mind, “Bada-Didi”, a voluntary organization comprising of 30 tribal women as its members has started a roadside library. This library situated along the National Highway 326 in Malkangiri is the first of its kind in the area. The library has been set up with financial contribution from all the members of the group. The members of Bada-Didi said that the initiative was conceptualized keeping in mind the need to encourage new generation to read more books.

Odisha Couple Attempts Suicide Demanding Justice For ‘Murdered’ Daughter

A couple attempted suicide by pouring diesel to self-immolate themselves demanding justice for their 5-year-old daughter, who was allegedly murdered. Ashok Sahu and Saudamini of Jadupur village in Nayagarh district attempted self-immolation in front of the Odisha Assembly today citing that their daughter’s murderers are being shielded by Minister Arun Sahoo. But soon the Police intervened and stopped the couple, who were later taken into custody. Saudamini said that they have been forced to attempt self-immolation as they are yet to get justice for their daughter, Pari. The couple said that the accused who murdered their daughter is yet to be arrested.

The High Court has also sought information about the current situation of Tigress Sundari. On behalf of the Odisha Forest Department, Angul Divisional Forest Officer will appear before the MADHYA PRADESH High Court as per the instructions. Meanwhile, Odisha’s Forest Department has alleged that despite writing numerous letters, the State of Madhya Pradesh has not initiated any steps to take back Tigress Sundari.

The viral audio clip is purpoted to be a recorded telephonic conversation between Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo and Saumya Ranjan Pradhan the Sarpanch of victim Pari’s, Lakshmiprasad Panchayat. In fact, Sarpanch Saumya Ranjan Pradhan, has confirmed that one of the voices in the recorded telephonic conversation belongs to him. However, he has declined to go on record and confirm this on camera. The other voice is of Minister Arun Sahoo. Saumya Ranjan confirmed further that he had spoken to minister Arun Sahoo, yesterday evening.
