Mumbai: Denying reports that he was contemplating a sequel to his directorial debut of 2004, `Garv`, actor Puneet Issar has said the action-packed flick would have created history at the box office had it been released today.

Known for his portrayal of `Duryodhan` in B R Chopra`s TV epic `Mahabharat`, Puneet had penned the script of `Garv` starring Salman Khan, Shilpa Shetty, Arbaaz Khan, Amrish Puri and others. The film did average business.

"I think `Garv` was ahead of its times. For Salman, the movie had set a benchmark in terms of action sequences, drama and emotion. If it would have been released today then it would have definitely done business of Rs 200 crore," Puneet told PTI in an interview.

Ask him if he is considering making a sequel to it, pat comes the reply, No. "I do not believe in taking ahead the same subject. I feel films on newer subjects should be made. I would not like to wield around the same topic," Puneet said.

`Garv: Pride and Honour` was based on the story of honest and brave cops-the theme which seems to have caught the fancy with Bollywood which has churned out films like `Dabangg`, `Singham`, `Force` to name pnly a few.

The actor-turned-producer is currently looking forward to his second directorial venture `I am Singh` which deals with discrimination and racism faced by Sikhs abroad. "`I Am Singh` is about Sikhs, who, despite living in the US for generations, were mistaken for Arabs and Afghans due to their turbans and became victims of racist violence in the aftermath of 9/11. The film takes a look at the discrimination against Sikhs post 9/11," he said.

The film starring Gulzar Chahal, Mika Singh, Rizwan Haider, Tulip Singh and Brooke Johnston, is slated for December 2 release.
