Mumbai: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha will be seen together in a song from 'Bombay Talkies', the anthology film which celebrates 100 years of cinema.

'Bombay Talkies' comprises of four short stories by filmmakers - Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap, Dibaker Banerjee and Karan Johar.

The song 'Apna Bombay Talkies' will have stars of both the older and younger generation.

The first half of the song has clippings of popular films of many yesteryear celebrities like Prithviraj Kapoor, Nargis Dutt, Sunil Dutt, Madhubala, Waheeda Rehman, Shatrughan Sinha, Amitabh Bachchan, Tanuja, Zeenat Aman, Rishi Kapoor, Hema Malini, Rekha, Praveen Babi, among others.

This part of the song is in black and white. Brief portions of their films have been picked up and collated on VFX. So it seems they are lip-syncing the song - in a sense, a statement issued by the makers here said.

"The song took three-four months to be made. It has come out beautifully. A lot of hard work was put in by both Amit Trivedi and Vaibhavi Merchant for this song. We have used clippings from a lot of iconic films like 'Sholay', 'Pyaasa', 'Mugal-e- Azam' to name a few," producer Ashi Dua said in a statement.

Earlier, the makers released the second half of the song which is of approximately four minutes. It has three Khans - Aamir, Shah Rukh and Saif - in addition to Kareena Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Rani Mukherji, Shahid Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, Akshay Kumar, Karisma Kapoor and Juhi Chawla.

Bollywood's young brigade, including Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan, Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, will also feature in it.

Set for the release today, the film will be screened at the Cannes film festival later this year.
