CBSE Class 12 Exam 2020: Board Introduces Major Changes in Exam Pattern

Bhubaneswar: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reportedly come up with some major changes in the exam pattern of Class 12 students for the academic session 2019-20.

According to a report of Jagran Josh, CBSE has given more importance to internal assessment in the new exam pattern for the Class 12 students.

As per the report, there will be some changes in the question paper format of the Class 12 board exam; and there will be more number of objective type questions.

The Board has reportedly taken the decision to discourage rote learning, develop analytical skills and reasoning abilities among students.

CBSE also believes that it will produce better results and improve the academic quality of institutions. Hence, from 2020, 20% marks will be kept for internal assessment in all subjects. However, for the Science subjects and fine arts the weightage will remain unchanged, reported Jagran Josh.

On the other hand, the Board recently proposed to conduct practical examinations of Class 10 and Class 12 at external centers, just like theory examinations from next academic session i.e. 2020.

Currently, the Board is conducting practical examinations for both Class 10 and Class 12 students at their own schools. But from next year, the students may have to visit external centres for both theory and practical exams.

Besides, continuing with its efforts towards error-free evaluation, CBSE has come up with major change in the evaluation process like reducing the number of copies to be evaluated in a day- to ease the load of copy coordination. This means, the evaluator will have to check only 20 answer scripts instead of 25 in the main subjects. This will also lessen the coordination work from 100 to 80 copies.
