Cuttack/Bhubaneswar: In what could seem as a plot of some suspense-thriller movie, Narayan Sahu-the suspected serial killer behind the three brutal murders in Cuttack, apparently enjoyed while executing the crimes, police revealed on Monday. However, police is yet to confirm whether Sahu is a psycho killer or mentally retarded.

Though initial reports claimed that the accused belonged to Ganjam district, police later confirmed that Sahu is a native of Odagaon Sunamuhi village in Nayagarh district.

Quoting forensic experts, police officials said that all three murders were executed in a similar fashion, wherein the killer used a sharp weapon with a wooden handle (elbow length) to attack the victims while they were asleep. After a detailed analysis of the nature of injuries and execution  of crime, it was observed that the injuries were of similar in nature, police said.

If police versions are to be believed, the serial killer mostly targeted the destitutes while they were fast asleep in the wee hours. Moreover, he enjoyed watching the victims die and later vanished from the spot.

“Detection of the crime was challenging as all the three victims were homeless and there was no concrete motive behind the murders. Forensic experts suggested that the killer could be some psychopath,” said Twin City Police Commissioner, Satyajit Mohanty.

Mohanty further informed that police team toiled hard for the last seven days and after analyzing all evidences and CCTV footage, we were finally able to zero in on the accused.

“Though a native of Nayagarh, Sahu had also settled in Ganjam for some time. Our investigation will continue to ascertain what exactly was the motive behind the killings. There is no reason for people to panic as the serial killer has now been arrested,” Mohanty added.
