Brown sugar worth Rs 14 lakhs seized in Bhubaneswar, Jajpur

Bhubaneswar/Jajpur: Excise officials seized brown sugar worth around Rs 14 lakhs and arrested three drug dealers after raids in two separate places in the state today.

According to reports, a flying squad of the Excise department raided Haladipadia slum under Laxmisagar police limits of Bhubaneswar today and seized 45 gram of brown sugar worth approximately Rs 5 lakh and arrested a drug peddler.

Likewise, a joint team comprising a flying squad from Cuttack and Excise team officials from Jajpur conducted a raid in Panikoili area and seized 90 gram brown sugar. The market value of the seized contraband is expected to be around Rs 9 lakhs, said sources adding that two persons were also arrested in the case.

Further investigations into both the incidents are underway.
