Peshawar: Five Taliban militants were killed and four others injured today when the vehicle they were travelling in hit a landmine in the restive tribal belt of northwest Pakistan, official sources said.

The militants were travelling from Kurram Agency to Orakzai Agency when the vehicle hit the mine near Ali Sherzai village.

The explosion destroyed the vehicle.

In a separate development, militant commander Abdul Manan surrendered to security forces in Orakzai Agency, Frontier Corps spokesman Maj Fazlur Rehman said.
