A 29-year-old woman had been sexually assaulted at a residence in Rose Bay earlier this week.

In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old woman, travelling to Tohana town in Fatehabad district in Haryana along with nine-year-old son, was killed when she was pushed from a moving train by a 'drunk' man when she resisted a bid of 'sexual assault', the police said on Friday.

The victim said that her friend's father, a factory owner, was forcing her to marry him but when she refused, she was abused, harassed and filmed. She said that her friend also encouraged her to accept the proposal.

In the complaint, the victims alleged that their seniors forced them to perform indecent and obscene acts, including unnatural s*x. The seniors then forced them to take the name of any of their female classmates and make derogatory remarks about her.

In a recent order, Justice Anuja Prabhudessai granted bail to the man, arrested last year following a police complaint filed by the 14-year-old boy’s father.

After three and a half years the trial is now over and Parasurman has been convicted and sentenced to 15 years in jail and a fine of Rs 5000 has been imposed on him.

"When a person manipulates any part of the body of a woman so as to cause penetration into, inter alia, the vagina or urethra, the act would amount to rape. There is sufficient evidence of such penetration in the present case," the order stated.

A special POCSO court in Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday awarded a 62-year-old man to 10 years rigourous imprisonment after convicting him of sexually assaulting a two-and-a-half year old girl in 2014. 

It is pertinent to mention here that the Singhadwara Police had arrested a servitor of Srimandir yesterday (December 9) on charges of molesting a minor girl on the premises of the 12th-century shrine.

The Headmaster of Ashram School in Boring village under Mayurbhanj’s Thakurmunda Police limits was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly harassing sexually a cook-cum-attendant at the school.
