Odisha girl found dead in Hyderabad; family alleges rape & murder

Kendrapara: A minor girl, who had allegedly gone missing from Ghosaramal village under Nikirai police limits of Kendrapara six months back, was found dead in Hyderabad on Sunday.

As per sources, when the girl went missing on January 18 earlier this year, her family members had lodged a complaint with the Nikirai police against one Dilip Sethi and his brothers of the same village alleging that they have abducted her.

After finding her dead body in Telangana yesterday, police informed that the girl has committed suicide by hanging herself. However, her family members, unable to accept the fact, remained firm in their allegations that she was abducted, raped and later murdered by Dilip.

Meanwhile, the accused youth has been detained by Hyderabad Medchal police while further interrogation in this connection is on, sources said.

Gunanidhi Nayak, Nikirai PS IIC, said "We received information from Hyderabad police that the girl committed suicide by hanging herself. I have informed her family members as well. The youth who had taken her to Hyderabad has been detained by police. We are inquiring in this connection to find more facts.”
