Sanjay Raut, 61, was earlier sent to a four-day ED remand which was extended by three more days till August 8, followed by the two-week long judicial custody granted on Monday.

The developments followed Raut skipping two ED summons and then seeking time till August 7 as he was tied up in Parliament-related commitments.

It is alleged that illegal constructions are underway in Patia region by filling up a natural water body for the Computer Science department of KIIT.

While the SJTA has filed cases against two former amins for their complicity in the fraud, the Puri Collector has launched a probe by constituting a fact finding committee. 

Further investigation into the case is underway to trace the other members of the gang. Besides, the police probe is on to ascertain other such scams carried out by the gang.
