Under Rohit Sharma's leadership, Mumbai Indians (MI) have won five Indian Premier League (IPL) titles. However, the franchise replaced him with star all-rounder Hardik Pandya as their next captain in IPL 2024.

Fans were not happy with the decission as they booed and trolled Pandya both on and off the ground. As a result, it reflected on the team's performance in the ongoing edition of the mega event. MI are on the brink of elimination from the playoff race in IPL 2024.

Moreover, speculation is rife among the fans and experts that Rohit may leave MI after IPL 2024 following the development. Legendary Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram also feels that the veteran batsman might not continue his IPL journey with MI in the next season.

Several reports also suggested tension in the MI camp after the big move by the team management. It might have also impacted Rohit's form as he is going through a lean patch with the bat this season and has struggled to find consistency.

According to Akram, he would love to see Rohit join two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) next season under Gautam Gambhir's mentorship.

"I have a feeling that Rohit won't be at Mumbai Indians next season. I would love to see him at KKR. Imagine him open there, Gauti as a mentor, Iyer as a captain. They will have a very strong batting. He bats very well on any wicket. He is that great a player. But it will be good to see him at KKR," said Akram during a recent interaction.
