'Note printing machine' and kidnapping racket busted in Odisha, 4 arrested

Four individuals, Deepak Behera, Kabiraj Malli, Chaitanya Malli, and Sibaji Malli, were arrested in Paralakhemundi, Odisha for kidnapping and scamming people with a fake note printing machine. The police seized the tin box used as the counterfeit device after rescuing a kidnapping victim from Chilika area following a complaint by Mini Lima.

Kidnapping racket busted in Odisha, fake note printing machine seized

At least four persons have been arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping of a man from Parala Sahi in Paralakhemundi area. Cops also seized a tin box, believed to be a fake currency note printing machine, from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Deepak Behera, Kabiraj Malli, Chaitanya Malli and Sibaji Malli. Senior police officials said that the accused have also allegedly duped several people on the pretext of selling them the currency printing machine.

As per reports, the accused had converted a tin box into a note-printing machine by fitting electronic equipment like motors, rubber rollers, switches and lights. The accused used to display it as a note-printing machine to dupe people.

The accused were arrested after a complaint was lodged by one Mini Lima on June 24. The complainant alleged that some people kidnapped her husband and demanded Rs 30 lakh for his release. Somehow, she managed to transfer Rs 6 lakh to the abductors. However, she then took the help of police after the kidnappers demanded Rs 24 lakh more to release her husband.

Later carrying out an investigation, Police subsequently rescued Mini's husband from a lodge in the Chilika area.

" The complainant had transferred around Rs 6 lakh to the kidnappers within the last month. A case was subsequently registered and nabbed four accused were involved in the case. We have seized the machine which was used to cheat people by displaying it as a note printing machine," said Prashant Bhupati, IIC of  Paralakhemundi police station.
