Cuttack: Trouble mounted for Orissa Stevedores Limited (OSL) owner Mahimananda Mishra as the High Court today denied interim protection to him in connection with the murder of Seaways Group general manager Mahendra Swain at Paradip.
The court also denied his four associates protection from arrest in the connection. Besides, it asked the Jagatsinghpur police to submit case dairy.
Notably, miscreants had opened fire at Swain near the Ambedkar Bhawan at Madhuban Colony in Paradip on October 26. After the murder, Swain’s family members had alleged that it was a pre-planned attack on him. Since SSL was also involved in stevedoring and had bagged a contract from the Jindal Steel and Powers Limited (JSPL) to which OSL had objected, OSL wanted to minimise the presence of SSL in Paradip.
Around six persons, including prime accused Rakesh Chubey and Congress leader Bapi Sarkhel have so far been arrested in the case.
