A Muslim student from the Darul Uloom Deoband in Uttar Pradesh has been nabbed by police for issuing threat about another Pulwama-like attack. The youth reportedly took to his X handle and said "Bahut jald insha allah dusra pulwama bhi hoga" (Insha Allah, there will be another Pulwama-like attack soon). After Deoband Police received information about this objectionable post, a case was registered under serious charges. The youth was arrested from Khankah area and taken for further interrogation by police and intelligence officials. Police sources said action will be initiated as per the findings of the probe. The youth, reportedly a resident of Jharkhand, was referring to the tragic incident on February 14 2019, when a terror attack was carried out in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir resulting in the death of 40 CRPF personnel.

The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a batch of petitions seeking mandatory cross-verification of the votes cast in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) with Voter-Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) slips. However, a bench headed by Justice Sanjiv Khanna asked the Election Commission of India to examine the suggestion if the VVPAT slips may have unique barcodes on them in addition to the party symbol, which in turn could be counted by an electronic machine.
