48 Lakh Weddings In India In Next Two Months, To Generate Whopping Rs 6 Lakh Crore Business

The wedding season in India is set to kick off on November 12, 2024, and retailers across the country are bracing for a significant economic boost. According to the Confederation of All India Traders, an estimated 48 lakh weddings are expected to take place this November and December, generating a staggering ₹6 lakh crore in business.
In Delhi alone, around 4.5 lakh weddings are projected, contributing approximately ₹1.5 lakh crore to the local economy. As the wedding season begins, retailers nationwide are anticipating a wave of economic activity that will significantly benefit the retail sector.
A recent CAIT study indicates that the retail market—spanning both goods and services—is on track to achieve a total turnover of ₹5.9 lakh crore during this period. In line with these projections, gold producers have already reported a surge in wedding-related gold purchases during Dhanteras, signaling a strong start to the season.
