The Central Pollution Control Board's data showed the capital recorded a 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) of 289. It was 268 on Saturday.
Asia had its hottest July on record, besting the previous record set in 2010.

Monsoon has been delayed by a couple of days and is likely to arrive in Kerala by June 3 this year.
