The T20 World Cup 2024 has begun, but Indian cricketer Riyan Parag expressed disinterest in the event, despite his successful IPL season. He was not selected for India's squad and plans to focus on future opportunities, including a potential tour to Zimbabwe.

India is set to start their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against Ireland, followed by a match against Pakistan. Speculation surrounds India's opening batsmen choices, with Sanju Samson recently opening with Rohit Sharma in warm-up games due to Virat Kohli's late arrival. Former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar supports Kohli as an opener based on his recent form, despite discussions of other potential combinations.

Though Hardik acknowledged the 'difficult times' he incurred over the last few months, he said that he 'won't run away from it' and will keep fighting hard.

The former BCCI president believes that if Team India is to do well in the T20 World Cup, Kohli needs to bat with freedom at the top of the order.

Former India great Sunil Gavaskar has urged captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid to play three spinners and one out-and-out pacer in Jasprit Bumrah, with vice-captain Hardik Pandya as the fifth bowling option.

As the two senior players have been appointed as the captain and vice-captain of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup, head coach Rahul Dravid will have a tough job in getting the two together and avoid an MI-like situation in the Indian dressing room.

Manjrekar is of the opinion that the Men in Blue have no other option but to pair Rohit Sharma with Virat Kohli for opening slot. However, he would have preferred to add the flavour of young and talented Yashaswi Jaiswal. 

The report stated that the former southpaw is ready to take on the challenges to coach the Men in Blue in all the three formats.

However, there has been no update on Virat Kohli's travel status from the BCCI yet.

The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman is not eligible to become Team India coach for some reason.

According to Jaffer, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli should open the innings for the Indian team, with the likes of Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav batting in the middle order.

The Australian great feels that apart from Bumrah, pacers are failing to nail yorkers effectively in the death overs and he wants them to master the pivotal delivery.

According to Manjrekar, Virat and captain Rohit Sharma have evolved as T20 batters and they will not make the same mistakes in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 as they had done against England in the semifinal of the last edition of the marquee event.

Several experts including former India great Sunil Gavaskar have predicted their semifinalists in the T20 World Cup 2024. However, the Little Master has not picked Pakistan as one of the semifinalists.
