Ravindra Jadeja
Despite Ravindra Jadeja's heroics, India was defeated by England in the third Test match at Lord's. veteran all-rounder Jadeja played a matured innings of 61 not out. However, he failed to lead India to a victory.
In response, former Pakistan players Basit Ali and Kamran Akmal didn’t like Jadeja’s knock. They slammed Jadeja for lacking courage to take India home.
"The shot selection was not right. Jadeja should have taken his chances. You should be confident enough to hit the ball down the ground. He lacked courage and didn’t go for shots against Joe Root and Shoaib Bashir. Had he shown courage and game awareness, he could have won the game for India," said Akmal.
Echoing similar kind of views, Bashir said, “Javed Miandad once said that when you are batting with the tailenders and the field comes up, you should hit boundaries in the last two balls of the over.”
Notably, England and India scored 387 each in their first innings. The hosts were bowled out for 192 in their second innings. In reply, England managed to restrict the Indian team and won the match by 22 runs.
