It is well known to every movie lover that Sholay initially received negative critic reviews and also had a bad commercial response. However, later it emerged as a box office success breaking several records. Even after all these years, the movie has clinched the first spot in the list of 'Top 10 Indian Films" of all time in the British Film Institute's 2002 poll.

Amjad Khan, born on November 12 in 1940, worked in over 132 movies in a career spanning over 20 years. Though officially he made his onscreen debut in 1973 with Hindustan Ki Kasam, his presence was ignored until Sholay.
