Heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds prevailed in the twin cities for quite some time. The first spell of rain is likely to bring down the maximum temperature.

Several places in Mayurbhanj district received rainfall today morning. Similipal National Park in the district has been closed today for visitors following heavy downpours. 

The weather office has issued yellow warning on thunderstorm and lightning for nine districts of the State. The alert has been sounded for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Dhenkanal districts.

A preliminary report by the state government revealed that over 20 lakh people from 3696 villages have been affected by the heavy rains and consequent flooding. As per report at least four people in the State have died so far in rain-related mishaps.
