The set of guidelines will particularly be strictly followed from Rath Yatra to Niladri Bije of Lord Jagannath and his siblings.

According to sources, as many as 180 platoons of police force will be deployed in Puri for the smooth and timely conduct of the Rath Yatra, which will see a footfall of lakhs of devotees from across the globe. 

As the queue extended up to Marchikote Chhak, devotees were asked to form a human chain and enter the temple to have the darshan of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra.

The Gundicha Temple in Puri is on a repair spree after cracks were spotted on the columns of the temple by Puri Srimandir Technical Core Committee during an inspection in October 2022.

Srimandir in Puri allows darshan through only one gate, Singhadwara. It results in unprecedented congestion every day. The situation goes from bad to worse on holidays when the devotees have to wait in queue for more than 4-5 hours for darshan.

After taking into consideration the compliance affidavit filed by the Srimandir Committee, the apex court disposed of the petition filed by Mrinalini Padhi for better management of affairs at the 12th-century shrine.

As per reports, the Amicus Curiae sought seven days from the court to study the affidavit that the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) furnished on Monday (May 1).

While hearing a petition filed by Puri-based social worker Dillip Baral seeking direction to make the report of Justice Raghubir Das Commission of Inquiry public, the court directed Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena and Law Secretary to submit response in connection with the matter.
