Earlier, the district administration had stated that considering the impediment factors in the daytime, the survey was conducted late at night. However, the conduct of the survey again during daytime has raised many eyebrows.
Though Puri district collector Samarth Verma visited the site to take stock of the construction work, he did not visit the place from where the stone sculpture was unearthed. Moreover, he refused to make any comment on it.
It was alleged that ground-penetrating radar survey (GPRS) was not undertaken at the site before carrying out digging activities which resulted in damage to the antique sculpture.
