Puri: Many valuable items were recovered from the ancient Emar mutt in front of the 12th-century Sri Jagannath Temple in Puri after its possession was taken by the Commissioner of Endowment on Friday.

According to sources, a beautiful silver tree, flower, and bouquet were found inside the mutt. Besides, silver utensils and ornaments were also unearthed in the mutt.

Pair of cow and calf made of bronze and 16 ancient swords were recovered from the mutt. According to sources, the cow-calf sculpture was used during Jhulan Yatra.

After the Commissioner of Endowments took over possession of Emar mutt, a list of its property was prepared. The inventory of all items was done in presence of the magistrate.

In a jaw-dropping development in 2011, as many as 522 pieces of silver bricks, weighing over 18 tonnes worth and over a whopping Rs 90 crore were recovered from four wooden boxes at the ancient mutt.
