During her two-hour visit, Murmu met Ministers, MLAs and leaders of the BJP and its ally Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) here at a hotel and sought their support for her candidature in the Presidential poll.

"It is a great pleasure for me to come to the soil of Bhagwan Buddha. Our Prime Minister selected me as the candidate for President and I am appealing to leaders of every political party to support me," Murmu said in Patna's Maurya hotel while addressing NDA leaders.

Former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi was also present at the airport.

Meanwhile,  The ruling TRS in Telangana on Monday said it would support the candidature of joint opposition nominee Yashwant Sinha in the Presidential election.

Water Resources, Commerce and Transport Minister Tukuni Sahu and Law Minister Jagannath Sarka have signed the nomination papers of Murmu and will be present during the filing of the nomination tomorrow.

He stated that if elected, he will conscientiously uphold, without fear or favour.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief JP Nadda announced Draupadi Murmu from Odisha as NDA's Presidential candidate for the upcoming elections.

Rajnath Singh had called upon Patnaik and reportedly discussed the ensuing Presidential election with him over phone on Thursday.

In a direction to Rajya Sabha secretary general, who is the returning officer for the July 18 poll, and assistant returning officers in states, the EC said "in order to maintain secrecy of voting and to avoid the possibility of identification of voter at the time of counting of votes" in the presidential poll, every elector should be given a "specially designed pen" for marking preferences on the ballot paper.
