Calling defence ties as the foundation of Indo-French relations, PM Modi said France is an important partner in the ‘Make In India’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives.
Propelled by an LVM3-M4 rocket, the Chandrayaan-3 mission lifted off at 2:35 pm from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
Modi, who is on an official visit to France at the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron, made the announcement during his address to the Indian community at LA Seine Musicale in Paris on Thursday.
He is the first Indian Prime Minister to receive the honour.
As Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a trip to France on Thursday, he said interests between the two nations in the Indo-Pacific region were vast and deep.
In his departure statement, Modi said his visit to France was particularly special as he will join President Macron for the French National Day, or Bastille Day celebrations in Paris as the Guest of Honour.
The two leaders discussed furthering inter-faith dialogue, countering extremist ideologies, promoting global peace, and deepening the partnership between India and Saudi Arabia.
The 41st award – in memory of the revolutionary and nationalist freedom fighter Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak (1856-1920) – shall be conferred on Modi on his 103rd death anniversary on August 1, at a function in the Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth here.
“We send money for schemes from Delhi but the Congress loots it. The Congress government has damaged Rajasthan in four years and Congress leaders also know this well,” PM Modi said, while addressing a public rally in Bikaner’s Naurangdesar village.
Pointing out that poor connectivity and expensive logistic costs hinder the progress of businesses, he highlighted the multifold increase in the speed and scale of development by the Union government.
Modi dedicated to people a six-lane greenfield expressway section of the Amritsar-Jamnagar Economic Corridor, the first phase of the Inter-State Transmission Line for Green Energy Corridor, a Bikaner-to-Bhiwadi transmission line and a 30-bed Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) hospital.
Earlier, it was opposed that since the defendants are foreign entities, the service could be effected only as per the procedure prescribed.
Addressing a public meeting at Wazidpur, the Prime Minister said that his government had ensured that the benefits of schemes reach the beneficiaries.
"Sometimes saints show the way, sometimes institutions such as the Gita Press guides humanity through its work," Modi said.
Addressing an event in Raipur, Prime Minister Modi said that the projects will create new employment opportunities for the people of the region and pave way for the development of the state.
