Samajwadi Party supremo and former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mulayam Singh Yadav passed away at the age of 82 after a prolonged illness. The news was confirmed by his son Akhilesh Yadav.
He first became a state minister in 1977. Later, in 1980, he became the president of the Lok Dal in Uttar Pradesh which later became a part of the Janata Dal.
